Stripper-type rice harvesters are increasingly being abandoned in modern agricultural practices due to relatively high grain losses, particularly when harvesting rice varieties with diverse mechanical grain properties. However, this type of machine is still used to a limited extent, especially in narrow, uneven, or waterlogged fields that are inaccessible to combine harvesters. This study aimed to analyze the effect of grain moisture content on the tensile force of rice grains in three varieties (Inpari IR Nutri Zinc, Tarabas, and Inpago 7), examine the relationship between moisture content and rotor torque, and provide recommendations for the optimal power requirement of stripper-type harvesters for each variety. The tensile force was measured using a manual tensile testing device through vertical pulling until the grain detached from the pedicle. The measured force was then converted into torque based on the effective working width of the machine, and power was calculated at a rotor speed of 600 rpm. Moisture content significantly affected tensile force, with a strong linear relationship (R² > 0.94). The Tarabas variety exhibited the highest tensile force and torque values. The recommended engine power at the optimal harvest moisture content of 22% is 11 HP for Inpari IR Nutri Zinc and Inpago 7, and 26 HP for Tarabas. These findings serve as a reference for designing and selecting stripper-type harvesting machines that are adaptable to the mechanical properties of rice varieties, thereby enhancing harvesting efficiency, reducing losses, and maintaining grain quality.-
