Abstract: Jagung merupakan komoditas pangan strategis ketiga di dunia yang digunakan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan pangan. Upaya peningkatan produktivitas jagung dapat dilakukan melalui pemilihan varietas unggul dan pengaturan populasi tanaman. Tujuan penelitian ini menganalisis pengaruh jarak tanam dan varietas terhadap pertumbuhan dan produksi jagung. Penelitian dilaksanakan di KP IPB Sawah Baru dan Laboratorium Pasca Panen Departemen Agronomi dan Hortikultura IPB. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan percobaan petak terbagi (split-plot) yang terdiri dari 2 faktor yaitu varietas sebagai petak utama dan jarak tanam sebagai anak petak. Perlakuan varietas menggunakan jagung hibrida varietas NK 7328 Sumo dan jagung komposit varietas Sukmaraga. Perlakuan jarak tanam menggunakan ukuran 120 cm x 25 cm, 100 cm x 25 cm, 80 cm x 25 cm, dan 60 cm x 25 cm. Dua faktor tersebut dikombinasikan sehingga menghasilkan delapan kombinasi yang diulang sebanyak tiga kali sehingga terdapat 24 petak satuan percobaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa jarak tanam 80 cm x 25 cm dan varietas NK 7328 Sumo menghasilkan produktivitas tinggi.
Maize is the third strategic food commodity in the world that is used to fulfill food needs. Efforts to increase corn productivity can be done through the selection of superior varieties and plant population settings. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of plant spacing and varieties on maize growth and production. The research was conducted at KP IPB Sawah Baru and Post Harvest Laboratory of the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture IPB. This study used a split-plot experimental design consisting of 2 factors: variety as the main plot and spacing as the subplot. The variety treatment used hybrid corn variety NK 7328 Sumo and composite corn variety Sukmaraga. The plant spacing treatment used 120 cm x 25 cm, 100 cm x 25 cm, 80 cm x 25 cm, and 60 cm x 25 cm. The two factors were combined to produce eight combinations that were repeated three times so that there were 24 experimental unit plots. The results showed that plant spacing of 80 cm x 25 cm and variety NK 7328 Sumo produced high productivity.
