The high cost of feed, which reaches more than 70% of the total operational costs, is one of the main challenges in the cultivation of laying quail. This study aims to design a quail feed factory based on local ingredients and analyze its financial feasibility as an effort to increase production efficiency at PT Sukaharja Quail Indonesia. The design was carried out using an engineering design approach that includes the stages of exploration, problem definition, ideation, prototype development, and validation. The production capacity is designed at 12 tons per day to meet the feed needs of 300,000 quails with the final feed form being crumble. The estimated total initial investment is Rp. 13,109,805,346 covering the needs of machinery, buildings, utilities, initial variable costs and initial fixed costs. The results of the financial feasibility analysis indicate that this project is feasible to run, with an NPV value of Rp. Rp. 16.236.810.225, a Net B/C Ratio of 1.10, an IRR of 29%, and a Payback Period of 1 year. Thus, the construction of this feed mill not only increases production cost efficiency and feed independence, but also provides the prospect of sustainable long-term profits through the utilization of local resources and agricultural-based waste management systems.
