Abstract: Konsumsi energi memiliki peran penting dalam mendukung pertumbuhan ekonomi Indonesia. Namun, Peningkatan konsumsi energi yang didominasi energi fosil menyebabkan lonjakan emisi gas rumah kaca yang berpotensi mengganggu keberlanjutan lingkungan. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis hubungan kausalitas antara konsumsi energi, pertumbuhan ekonomi, dan emisi gas rumah kaca serta melakukan benchmarking terhadap kebijakan nasional dalam upaya penurunan emisi gas rumah kaca di Indonesia. Metode yang digunakan adalah Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) dan uji kausalitas granger dengan data time series periode 1990–2023. Benchmarking kebijakan dilakukan melalui pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif berbasis studi kepustakaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan kausal dua arah antara konsumsi energi dan emisi emisi gas rumah kaca, serta terdapat hubungan satu arah dari pertumbuhan ekonomi terhadap emisi gas rumah kaca. Konsumsi energi berpengaruh positif signifikan terhadap emisi gas rumah kaca dalam jangka pendek dan berpengaruh positif yang tidak signifikan dalam jangka panjang serta pertumbuhan ekonomi memiliki pengaruh negatif yang tidak signifikan terhadap emisi dalam jangka panjang. Benchmarking kebijakan menunjukkan Indonesia telah merumuskan kebijakan strategis seperti RUEN, LTS-LCCR 2050, dan RPJPN 2025–2045 untuk menurunkan emisi gas rumah kaca untuk mencapai Net Zero Emissions dengan kemajuan dalam tata kelola serta integrasi lintas sektor, namun terdapat tantangan pada implementasi dan koordinasi.
Energy consumption plays a vital role in supporting Indonesia’s economic growth. However, the increasing use of fossil-based energy has led to a surge in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, potentially threatening environmental sustainability. This study aims to analyze the causal relationship between energy consumption, economic growth, and GHG emissions, and to benchmark national policies for GHG emission reduction in Indonesia. The research employs the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) and Granger causality test using time series data from 1990 to 2023. Policy benchmarking was conducted through a qualitative descriptive approach based on literature review. The findings indicate a bidirectional causality between energy consumption and GHG emissions, and a unidirectional causality from economic growth to GHG emissions. Energy consumption has a significant positive impact on GHG emissions in the short term and an insignificant positive effect in the long term. Economic growth shows an insignificant negative effect on emissions in the long run. Policy benchmarking shows that Indonesia has introduced strategic frameworks such as RUEN, LTS-LCCR 2050, and the 2025– 2045 RPJPN to achieve Net Zero Emissions. While progress has been made in governance and cross-sectoral integration, challenges remain in implementation and coordination.
