Harvesting is a critical stage in oil palm production that affects plantation efficiency and productivity. This study aims to compare harvesting efficiency between manual and mechanized methods by measuring fruit harvesting duration and transportation time to the collection point (TPH). The research was conducted from November to December 2024 at PT. Kencana Sawit Indonesia, Solok Selatan, West Sumatra. The tools and materials used included writing instruments, a stopwatch, and data related to working time and harvest yield. Data were collected through direct observation and analyzed using the two-tailed T-test. The results showed that mechanized harvesting is more efficient, with a harvesting time difference of 12 seconds per bunch (p = 0.0002) and transportation time 23,48 minutes per ton faster than manual harvesting (p < 0.0001). The average monthly production using mechanized methods reached 48,69 tons/block, while the manual method produced only 38,13 tons/block. Mechanization has been proven to improve the duration of harvesting, labor efficiency, and production output. |
