Tea is one of the leading commodities in the plantation sector that contributes to the Indonesian economy. However, over the past 15 years, the performance of tea farming has declined. Partnerships are considered a strategic approach with the potential to improve the performance of tea farming, yet the participation of tea farmers in such schemes remains relatively low. This study aims to analyze the factors influencing tea farmers participation in partnerships and to evaluate their impact on tea farming performance. The method employed is Propensity Score Matching , utilizing data from the 2014 Plantation Household Survey conducted by BPS. The sample consists of 3,714 non-partner tea farmers and 820 partner tea farmers. The results show that plant age, gender, household size, participation in cooperatives and farmer groups significantly affect farmers' participation in partnerships, while education does not have a significant influence. Partnerships positively impact revenue and total production costs due to compliance with quality standards required by partner companies. However, partnerships have no significant effect on productivity or profits. Overall, partnerships have not demonstrated a substantial impact on improving the performance of tea farming in Indonesia.
