The felling of trees in private forests has an important role in supporting the availability of timber as raw material for the wood processing industry and increasing the income of local communities. This study aims to measure the productivity and costs of tree felling using a hanging rope felling technique in private forests in Leksono District, Wonosobo Regency, Central Java. Tree felling was carried out using two chainsaw brands, Stihl MS 250C and New West NW628. A total of 48 trees were felled. Measurements of tree diameter and height, as well as trunk production, were conducted directly in the field, while working time was measured based on video image analysis. The results of the study indicate that the stages of installing the suspended rope and cutting the trunk are the most time-consuming work elements. The total work time for felling using Stihl was 0.22 hours/cycle, resulting in productivity of 3.72 m³/hour and operational costs of Rp30,224.99/m³. The work time for felling using New West was 0.11 hours/cycle, resulting in productivity of 2.01 m³/hour and operational costs of Rp43.944,04/m³.
