Feline lower urinary tract disease (FLUTD) is one of the most common diseases of the urinary tract in cats. Feline lower urinary tract disease in cats is a term used to describe conditions that can affect the bladder and urethra (lower urinary tract). Feline lower urinary tract disease occurs due to dysfunction/obstruction of the urinary system or urethra in cats. Obstruction that occurs repeatedly and is difficult to overcome by pharmaceutical drugs requires perineal urethrostomy surgery. Preparation for perineal urethrostomy surgery includes physical examination, supporting diagnostic examination, as well as infusion and other supporting therapies. Postoperative care needs to be carried out optimally including pain management, administration of antibiotics, and close monitoring of signs of infection or complications plays an important role in accelerating the healing process and improving the patient's quality of life. From the evaluation results, the success rate of PU surgery is quite high, with minimal complications if the postoperative protocol is carried out properly. |
