| Abstract: | Schima wallichii termasuk dalam famili Theaceae yang mendominasi kawasan Hutan Pendidikan Gunung Walat (HPGW). Faktor biofisik seperti suhu, kelembapan, intensitas cahaya, kelerengan, elevasi, kerapatan tajuk, ketebalan serasah, dan residu bahan organik turut mendukung keberadaan permudaan S. wallichii. Schima wallichii belongs to the Theaceae family which dominates the Gunung Walat University Forest (GWUF) area. This species has various benefits both ecologically and health wise. The various benefits possessed by S. wallichii encourage the importance of conservation efforts of S. wallichii species in GWUF. This study aims to analyze the distribution pattern, natural regeneration potential, and biophysical factors of S. wallichii stands in GWUF. This research method uses vegetation analysis with plots placed by purposive sampling. The results showed that S. wallichii has a clustered distribution pattern. Natural regeneration in both research plots has the potential to be disrupted, because the number of seedlings is limited, especially in mixed stand plots and is dominated by non S. wallichii species. The association of S. wallichii with dominant species tends to be negative, meaning that the pairs tend not to coexist in the same space. Biophysical factors such as temperature, humidity, light intensity, slope, elevation, crown density, litter thickness, and residual organic matter also support the existence of S. wallichii seedlings. |
