| dc.description.abstract | RINGKASAN WINDA JASMAN. | dc.description.abstract | SUMMARY WINDA JASMAN. Performance and Tropical Adaptation of Rex, Mini Rex, and Netherland Dwarf Rabbits of Different Sexes. Supervised by HENNY NURAINI and BRAM BRAHMANTIYO. Rex and Minirex fancy rabbits are known to have soft and dense hair with attractive color patterns. Minirex and Netherland Dwarf are small body sized rabbits that are much in demand as pets and contests. The development of fancy rabbits in Indonesia is increasing quite well with more and more fancy rabbit contests held in various regions in Indonesia. Indonesia currently has international standard judges certified by the American Rabbit Breeders Association (ARBA). Characterization of rabbit breeds is needed as a basis for breeding to form rabbits that had adaptability to tropical environments with high productivity. Identification of fancy rabbit performance in the tropics can be done by morphometric measurements. Further analysis of body size can be used to characterize specific characteristics of Rex, Minirex and Netherland Dwarf fancy rabbits. This study was conducted in July 2024-January 2025. Data on body weight and morphometric characteristics of Rex, Minirex and Netherland Dwarf fancy rabbits were collected in Bogor District and City. Observations and measurements were made on adult male and female rabbits (6 months-1 year). The samples used were 40 head of Rex rabbits (20 males and 20 females), 48 head of Minirex rabbits (18 males and 29 females) and 10 head of Netherland Dwarf rabbits (5 males and 5 females). The observed variables were body weight and morphometrics .Analysis of variance of each variable using PROC GLM procedure, estimation of mahalanobis genetic distance using PROC DISCRIM procedure and canonical analysis using PROC CANDISC (SAS ver 9.4), then phenogram tree construction using MEGA11 software. The three fancy rabbit breeds were adapted to the Bogor environment without potential stress with a THI value of 26.29 ± 0.62. Rex rabbits have the highest average body weight (P<0.05) than Minirex and Netherland Dwarf rabbits, Rex rabbits have an average body weight of males and females of 2579.25 ± 421.85 g and 1829.50 + 269.09 g, respectively. The body size of Minirex rabbits with small body proportions, while Netherland Dwarf rabbits have the smallest average (P < 0.05) for almost all body sizes, typical head shape and size of front legs, hind legs are short compared to body length. Discriminant analysis showed that Rex fancy rabbits have different morphometric characteristics from Minirex and Netherland Dwarf rabbits. Estimates of mahalanobis genetic distance and phenogram tree construction showed no relationship between Rex rabbits and Netherland Dwarf rabbits and low admixture of Minirex to Netherland Dwarf.
