| Abstract: | Kemampuan resistansi Enterococcus sp. terhadap berbagai jenis antibiotik menjadi masalah serius di dunia medis. The ability of Enterococcus sp. to resist various types of antibiotics is a serious problem in the medical sector. Therefore, the importance of understanding bacterial resistance in Psittacidae is considered as one of the steps to protect them. This study aims to identify Enterococcus sp. in Psittacidae and the resistance pattern to several types of antibiotics. Samples were taken from Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII). This study used EF agar and blood agar, then the isolates were identified by Gram staining and biochemical tests. Antibiotic resistance tests were carried out using the Kirby-Bauer method with 7 antibiotics, incuding nalidixic acid, doxycycline, tetracycline, gentamicin, erythromycin, cefotaxime, and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazol. The results of bacterial identification in Psittacidae from TMII showed the presence of Enterococcus faecalis. All isolates that were tested for antibiotic resistance showed that trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole antibiotics had the best effectiveness to inhibit the bacterial growth. |
