| dc.description.abstract | Buru Island is the second largest island in Maluku Province. Buru Island has considerable fisheries potential because it is located in two WPPs, namely in WPP 714 and 715. Coral reefs are highly complex and productive ecosystems, with a high diversity of biota such as mollusks, crustaceans, and reef fishes. The reef fish community plays an important role in maintaining the balance of the various components the coral reef ecosystem. This study aims to describe the condition of reef fish community structure in Buru Island, South Buru Regency, Maluku Province. This research was conducted on September 22-30, 2024 in Buru Island, South Buru Regency. The reef fish observation method used was the Underwater Visual Census (UVC) method. There were 6,569 reef fish individuals belonging to 30 families with the largest family being the Caesionidae family. The reef fish community on Buru Island, South Buru Regency was abundant and diverse, with the planktivore trophic group being the most dominant. The values of diversity, uniformity, and dominance indices indicate that the condition of the reef fish community on the island is in a fairly good or stable condition. | - |
