To achieve sustainable forest management in West Papua, accurate increment data is needed to determine the basis for forest management policies. However, reliable and practical increment estimation tools are not widely available. This study aims to calculate the diameter increment of various tree species in logged-over natural forests and the diameter increment in various topographic conditions (valleys, slopes, and hills), analyze the differences in increment among species groups (merbau, commercial, and non-commercial), and develop a diameter increment estimation model based on species groups. The study was conducted on 9 Permanent Sample Plots (PSPs) of PT Wijaya Sentosa in West Papua. The diameter increment was modeled using the linear method and GNLS using R. The results showed that merbau had the highest average diameter increment. Topographically, valleys showed the highest increment compared to other topographies. No significant differences in diameter increment were found among species groups. The best model varied by group: M2 for Merbau, M8 for commercial species and all species, and M13 for non-commercial. |
