Environmental issues have been a serious concern for a long time. One of the major environmental problems is global warming caused by greenhouse gases, particularly carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. This study aims to analyze the dynamics of CO2 emissions and the influencing factors, as well as to verify the Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) and the Pollution Haven Hypothesis in developing countries in Asia. The method used in this research is a dynamic panel data approach with the System generalized method of moments (SYS-GMM). This study uses secondary annual data from 1997 to 2021. The results indicate that increases in economic growth, foreign direct investment (FDI), and primary energy consumption lead to higher CO2 emissions. Furthermore, this study finds evidence supporting both the EKC and Pollution Haven Hypothesis in developing Asian countries. |
