ALFIA LIDYA PUTRI LINTANG.
ABSTRACT
ALFIA LIDYA PUTRI LINTANG. Relationship Between Udder Volume and Teat Size on Milk Production of Dairy Cows at KUD Giritani Bogor. Supervised by PRIA SEMBADA.
Milk production in Indonesia falls short of the growing demand, leading to a reliance on milk imports. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between udder volume and teat size in the milk production of dairy cows at KUD Giritani, Bogor. The study used 100 lactating Friesian Holstein cows. The measured variables measured were udder volume, udder depth, teat length, and teat circumference. Data analysis was conducted using correlation, simple linear, and multiple linear regression. The results showed that udder volume, udder depth, teat length, and teat circumference had a significant relationship (P<0.05) with milk production, with udder volume having a moderate correlation (r=0.514). In contrast, other factors showed low to very low correlations. Regression analysis indicated that these factors contributed to milk production; however most of the variation in milk yield was still influenced by other factors such as genetics, feed quality, and management practices. It was concluded that udder volume and teat size can be used as indicators in selecting productive dairy cows, but supporting factors must also be considered.
