| dc.description.abstract | Bubu is the dominant fishing gear operated in the Seribu Islands, totaling 44,480 units with 334 vessels. This study examines the impact of ghost fishing by bubu tambun in the Seribu Islands. Ghost fishing is a fishing gear that is lost, discarded or abandoned in a waters. Fishermen in the Seribu Islands mostly use bubu fishing gear, so there is the potential for ghost fishing. The installed bubu (as if lost) were observed for 6 weeks to determine the number, type, weight of catch, behavior, and mortality of fish, as well as their economic value. This study was conducted using direct observation methods using 8 bubu tambun units at a depth of between 1-2.5 meters for 6 weeks and interviews. Observation from 8 bubu units, the average weekly catch reached 3-13 fish, with a total of 383 fish. The diversity of the catch was moderate (H'=2.81), dominated by sandfish (Pentapodus tritatus, 17.49%). In the 6th week, the catch landed was 65 fish weighing 6,260 grams, dominated by green parrotfish (20.93%). Mortality occurred in sandfish (2.9%) and toothless fish (20%), with an economic loss of Rp 99,480. Keywords: trap, ghost fishing, Seribu Islands, diversity, fish behavior, catch distribution | - |
