| dc.description.abstract | Globalization is a complex phenomenon that affects various aspects of life, including labour market dynamics at the global level. Although it is often associated with the expansion of employment, globalization can also increase the unemployment rate due to global competition. This study examines the impact of globalization on the unemployment rate in G20 countries from 2000 to 2022. Globalization is measured using the KOF globalization index, which includes economic, social, and political dimensions. In addition, control variables are used, which include labour market regulation index, GDP per capita, GDP per person employed, inflation, and FDI, as well as a global crisis dummy. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative and static panel data regression with the Random Effect Model (REM) approach. The panel data regression results show that economic, social, and political globalization, GDP per person employed, and the global crisis dummy have a positive impact on the unemployment rate. Other results, labour market regulation, GDP per capita, inflation, and FDI have a negative impact on the unemployment rate. However, economic globalization, labour market regulation, and FDI do not show a statistically significant effect. | |
