Title: Pengaruh Variasi Suhu Low Shear Mixing Terhadap Sifat Fisis Aspal Modifikasi Plastik High-Density Polyethylene

Abstract: Perkerasan lentur tanpa perencanaan yang baik rentan mengalami kerusakan akibat beban lalu lintas tinggi dan kondisi lingkungan, sehingga dibutuhkan inovasi material untuk meningkatkan daya tahannya. Penelitian ini mengkaji pengaruh penambahan High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) terhadap sifat fisis dan karakteristik Marshall aspal modifikasi menggunakan metode low shear mixing selama 120 menit pada proporsi 4%, 6%, dan 8% terhadap berat aspal dengan suhu 160°C, 170°C, dan 180°C. Penambahan HDPE dan kenaikan suhu pengadukan secara signifikan menurunkan nilai penetrasi yang mengindikasikan peningkatan kekakuan aspal. Selain itu, kombinasi kedua variabel tersebut menghasilkan peningkatan titik lembek, berat jenis, dan titik nyala yang mengindikasikan peningkatan kepadatan dan ketahanan termal aspal. Kondisi optimal diperoleh pada campuran aspal modifikasi HDPE 8% dan suhu pengadukan 180°C dengan nilai Marshall Quotient tertinggi sebesar sebesar 876,45 kg/mm yang mencerminkan kekakuan optimal campuran. Penelitian selanjutnya disarankan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara kelas penetrasi dan kelas kinerja perkerasan menggunakan uji Dynamic Shear Rheometer untuk menilai ketahanan terhadap deformasi dinamis.
Flexible pavements without proper planning are vulnerable to damage caused by heavy traffic loads and environmental conditions, necessitating material innovations to enhance their durability. This study investigates effect of High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) addition on physical characteristics and Marshall properties of modified bitumen using low shear mixing for 120 minutes at 4%, 6%, and 8% proportions by bitumen weight at temperatures of 160°C, 170°C, and 180°C. HDPE addition and increase in mixing temperature significantly reduced penetration value which increase bitumen stiffness. Furthermore, combination of those two variables led to increases in softening point, specific gravity, and flash point, indicating an improvement in asphalt density and thermal resistance. Optimal conditions were achieved with 8% HDPE modified bitumen mixture at 180°C mixing temperature, yielding highest Marshall Quotient value of 876.45 kg/mm, reflecting optimal mixture stiffness. Further research is recommended to analyse relationship between penetration grade and performance grade using Dynamic Shear Rheometer test to assess dynamic deformation resistance.
