Turmeric (Curcuma longa), widely recognized for its traditional medicinal uses, has gained scientific interest for its potential role as a natural antispasmodic agent. The therapeutic effects of its principal bioactive compound, curcumin, are attributed to its potent anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and analgesic properties. This review explores the mechanisms by which turmeric may alleviate muscle spasms, including the inhibition of inflammatory enzymes (COX-2, lipoxygenase), suppression of NF-κB signaling, reduction of oxidative stress, and enhancement of mitochondrial and muscular recovery processes. Curcumin has also demonstrated efficacy in reducing delayed onset muscle soreness and muscular pain, key factors in spasm-related discomfort. Despite its low natural bioavailability, absorption can be significantly enhanced with piperine or advanced delivery systems. Turmeric is generally well tolerated, with minimal side effects. While current evidence supports its promise in addressing the underlying causes of muscle spasms, further clinical trials are needed to confirm its direct antispasmodic efficacy and establish standardized therapeutic protocols.id
