The increasing use of artificial feed leads to the accumulation of nitrogenous waste in aquatic environments, originating from metabolic residues, feces, and uneaten feed. This study aimed to evaluate the application of water lettuce and water hyacinth as phytoremediators in the nursery phase of giant gourami Osphronemus gouramy. The research employed a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three treatments and three replications. The treatments consisted of no aquatic plant addition (K), the addition of water lettuce at 1,36 g/L (KA), and the addition of water hyacinth at 4,09 g/L (EG). The results showed that the best values for TAN, nitrite, nitrate, phosphate, turbidity, specific growth rate (SGR), absolute length growth, absolute weight growth, survival rate, and feed conversion ratio (FCR) were obtained in the EG treatment, with values of 0,04±0,01 mg/L, 0,33±0,10 mg/L, 0,004±0,004 mg/L, 0,04±0,03 mg/L, 73,13±3,08 NTU, 2,44±0,52%/day, 1,85±0,18 cm, 2,23±0,22 g, 100±0%, and 1,22±0,11, respectively. The EG treatment resulted in better water quality, absolute length and weight growth, specific growth rate, and FCR than the control treatment.
