pertumbuhan hingga kematian. Penelitian ini bertujuan menyusun strategi pengelolaan
ekosistem terumbu karang berdasarkan prevalensi kesehatan terumbu karang di perairan
Kecamatan Kepala Madan, Kabupaten Buru Selatan. Metode pengamatan menggunakan
Underwater Photo Transect dan Belt Transect. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa penyakit
karang di Perairan Kabupaten Buru Selatan masih torgolong rendah (9,01%), sementara
gangguan kesehatan karang yang ditemukan cukup tinggi (73,78%). Aktivitas destruktif
dilakukan.

The coral reef ecosystem in the waters of South Buru Regency can be said to be quite isolated and is suspected to have rich marine resources and high biodiversity. Limited transportation makes access to this area increasingly difficult. The majority of the people of Buru Island do not make the sea their main commodity, but rather rely on plantations and agriculture. The health of coral reefs is one of the most important factors for the life and growth of coral reefs. The vulnerability of corals to diseases and compromised health can lead to disrupted growth rates and even death. This study aims to develop a coral reef ecosystem management strategy based on the prevalence of coral health in the waters of Kepala Madan District, South Buru Regency. The observation method uses Underwater Photo Transect and Belt Transect. The results show that coral disease in the waters of South Buru Regency is still relatively low (9.01%), while coral compromised health found are quite high (73.78%). Destructive activities carried out in those waters are suspected to be one of the factors contributing to the high level of coral compromised. There are several areas with more vulnerable coral reefs, which can serve as a basis for implementing management practices.
