Whip fin silverbiddy (Gerres filamentosus) is a demersal fish found in coastal waters. Intensive fishing activities in Muara Angke waters have the potential to affect the population of the fish, but information on reproductive biology is still limited. This research aims to analyze reproductive biology aspects of the whip fin silverbiddy in the Muara Angke waters. Sampling and analysis were conducted for six months (August 2024 to January 2025) with a total of 270 fish (150 males and 120 females). The total length ranged from 69 to 265 mm, with an unbalanced sex ratio (1.25:1) dominated by male fish. The first maturity size of gonads in female (174 mm) is faster than in males (192 mm). The peak spawning season indicated by high gonad maturity index occurred in August and December. The reproductive potential of gonadally mature this fish ranged from 12,749 to 167,492 eggs with a partial spawner spawning pattern. |
