Abstract: Produksi daging domba di Jawa Barat dari tahun 2020-2023 meningkat 5,1% meskipun populasi domba menurun 15,6%, yang menjadi tantangan dalam memenuhi permintaan pasar. Peningkatan populasi domba ekor gemuk sebagai bibit dapat dilakukan dengan mengatur nutrisi dan mencukupi kebutuhan pakan, terutama sumber energi. Suplementasi lemak, seperti minyak kanola, minyak matahari, dan minyak ikan, dapat meningkatkan performa reproduksi domba jantan dengan meningkatkan motilitas sperma dan kualitas semen. Penambahan antioksidan seperti vitamin E dan selenium juga penting untuk mengurangi stres oksidatif dan mendukung kesehatan reproduksi. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan mengevaluasi pengaruh dari pemberian asam lemak tidak jenuh berbeda serta antioksidan pada pakan terhadap performa, metabolit darah, dan kualitas semen domba ekor gemuk jantan. Penelitian ini menggunakan 20 ekor domba ekor gemuk jantan dengan umur sekitar 10-14 bulan dan bobot awal 23,84±3,91 kg. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan yaitu rancangan acak kelompok dengan perlakuan : R0= Ransum kontrol; R1 =R0 + minyak kanola + Vit E + Se; R2 =R0 + minyak biji bunga matahari + Vit E+ Se; R3 = R0 + minyak lemuru + Vit E + Se. Peubah yang diamati yaitu konsumsi bahan kering, protein kasar, serat kasar, bahan ekstrak tanpa nitrogen, lemak kasar (BK, PK, SK, BETN, LK), asam lemak, pertambahan bobot badan harian (PBBH), efisiensi pakan, metabolit darah, biokimia plasma semen, kualitas semen segar, dan kualitas semen cair. Data dianalisis menggunakan analysis of variance (ANOVA) untuk peubah konsumsi pakan, pertambahan bobot badan harian, efisiensi pakan, dan metabolit darah, analisis paired sample T-test untuk peubah semen segar, sedangkan analisis deskritptif untuk peubah biokimia plasma serta semen cair. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan perlakuan berpengaruh nyata (P<0,05) terhadap konsumsi lemak kasar, PBBH, kadar kolesterol darah, dan kualitas semen segar, namun tidak berpengaruh nyata (P>0,05) terhadap konsumsi BK, PK, SK, BETN, dan efisiensi pakan. Berdasarkan hasil analisis deskriptif kandungan high density lipoprotein (HDL) kolesterol plasma semen yang diberi asam lemak tidak jenuh menunjukkan lebih tinggi dibandingkan kontrol dan pada kualitas semen cair menunjukkan masa simpan yang lebih lama. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini yaitu pemberian asam lemak tidak jenuh berbeda, vitamin E, dan selenium pada pakan domba ekor gemuk jantan terbukti dapat memengaruhi performa, metabolit darah, dan kualitas semen. Minyak matahari dan minyak kanola menunjukkan minyak terbaik untuk meningkatkan bobot badan, sedangkan minyak lemuru menunjukkan minyak terbaik untuk memperpanjang masa simpan semen cair.
The production of sheep meat in West Java increased by 5.1% from 2020 to 2023, despite a 15.6% decline in sheep population, posing a challenge in meeting market demand. An increase in the population of fat-tailed sheep as breeding stock can be achieved by managing nutrition and fulfilling feed requirements, particularly energy sources. Supplementation of fats, such as canola oil, sunflower oil, and fish oil, can enhance the reproductive performance of rams by improving semen quality. The addition of antioxidants such as vitamin E and selenium is also crucial to reduce oxidative stress and support reproductive health. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the effects of different unsaturated fatty acids and antioxidants in the diet on performance, blood metabolites, and semen quality of fat-tailed rams. This study utilized 20 male fat-tailed rams aged approximately 10-14 months with an initial weight of 23.84±3.91 kg. The experimental design employed was a randomized block design with treatments: R0 = control diet; R1 = R0 + canola oil + vitamin E + selenium; R2 = R0 + sunflower seed oil + vitamin E + selenium; R3 = R0 + lemuru oil + vitamin E + selenium. The observed variables included nutrient intake (dry matter, crude protein, crude fiber, nitrogen-free extract, fat, fatty acids), average daily gain (ADG), feed efficiency, blood metabolites, seminal plasma biochemistry of fresh semen, fresh semen quality, and chiled semen quality. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) for feed intake, average daily gain, feed efficiency, and blood metabolites, paired sample T-test for fresh semen variables, and descriptive analysis for seminal plasma biochemistry and chiled semen variables. The results indicated that the treatments had a significant effect (P<0.05) on crude fat intake, ADG, blood cholesterol levels, and fresh semen quality, but no significant effect (P>0.05) on dry matter, crude protein, crude fiber, nitrogen-free extract, and feed efficiency. Based on descriptive analysis, the high density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol content in plasma semen supplemented with unsaturated fatty acids was higher compared to the control, and the liquid semen quality showed a longer shelf life. In conclusion, supplementation of different unsaturated fatty acids, vitamin E, and selenium in the feed of fat-tailed rams significantly affects performance, blood metabolites, and semen quality. Sunflower oil and canola oil were identified as the best oils for enhancing body weight, while lemuru oil was found to be the most effective for extending the shelf life of liquid semen.
