Sandalwood horses are an important breed of Indonesian horses recognized for their strength, stiffness, and endurance capability. This study aims to evaluate the body conformation of local Sandalwood horses in Tugu Selatan, Bogor Regency, using the Mc Bane formula. The evaluation was conducted to determine whether the horses' body proportions are more suitable for work or racing purposes. A total of 15 horses (5 males and 10 females) were analyzed using digital imaging methods with ImageJ software to obtain morphometric body measurements. The results showed that the average McBane index for male horses was 98,087, while for female horses, it was 101,928. Based on these calculations, female horses are more suitable as workhorses due to their longer body proportions compared to their wither height, whereas male horses are more proportional for racing. This study provides insights into the body conformation of local Sandalwood horses and its application in determining their functional suitability based on body proportions. |
