Abstract: Pangium edule Reinw is a tropical tree native to Southeast Asia, particularly Indonesia and Malaysia. It is well-known for its large, toxic seeds that, when processed, become a staple ingredient in traditional dishes like “rawon” and “pucung”. Despite its toxicity due to hydrogen cyanide (HCN) content, the seeds are edible after fermentation or other detoxification processes. Besides its culinary use, Pangium edule has applications in traditional medicine for treating skin diseases. The alkaloid and saponin content has the potential to act as a larvicide, which can kill mosquito larvae.
