dc.description.abstractKayu transparan merupakan produk dari modifikasi kimia kayu dengan sifat optik transmitansi cahaya yang tinggi. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menguji pengaruh tingkat delignifikasi terhadap karakteristik kayu transparan dengan tipe impregnan polimer yang berbeda. Penelitian ini menggunakan kayu Pinus merkusii, dan metode penelitian meliputi tahap delignifikasi dengan sodium klorit selama 1, 2, 4, dan 6 jam; dan impregnasi resin epoksi dan polivinil asetat (PVAc). Karakterisasi produk meliputi analisis komponen kimia, perubahan warna, sifat fisis, dan transmitansi cahaya. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa proses delignifikasi kayu yang semakin lama menyebabkan warna kayu semakin cerah dan meningkatkan transmitansi cahaya kayu transparan. Degradasi lignin dan perubahan warna terbesar terdapat pada kayu terdelignifikasi D6H. Transmitansi tertinggi terdapat pada kayu transparan D4H dengan impregnasi epoksi (5,494%). Kayu transparan terimpregnasi resin epoksi memiliki sifat fisis lebih baik (kerapatan lebih tinggi dan penyerapan air lebih rendah) dibandingkan dengan kayu transparan terimpregnasi PVAc.-
dc.description.abstractTransparent wood is a product of chemical modification of wood with high light transmittance optical properties. The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of delignification level on the characteristics of transparent wood with different types of polymers. This research used Pinus merkusii wood, and the research included a delignification with sodium chlorite for 1, 2, 4 and 6 hours; and impregnation of epoxy resin and polyvinyl acetate (PVAc). Products characterization included analysis of chemical components, color changes, physical properties, and light transmittance. The results showed that the longer wood delignification process, the brighter wood color will be and increase light transmittance. The highest lignin degradation and color change occurred in D6H delignified wood. The highest transmittance was found in D4H transparent wood with epoxy impregnation (5.494%). Transparent wood impregnated with epoxy resin has better physical properties (higher density and lower water absorption) than transparent wood impregnated with PVAc.-
