Pole and line is the main fishing gear used to catch skipjack tuna at Dufa- Dufa fishing base in Ternate. This fishing gear consists of a piece of pole, line, and a barbless hook. The barbless hook is equipped with chicken feathers and raffia string. This research aims to identify the catch composition of the huhate fleet and analyze the production fluctuations of the huhate fleet over five years (2018-2022). Two captains of the pole and line boats were interviewed for specifications of body boat. Catch data were obtained from records kept by the fishing port master. The data analysis consists of Catch per Unit Effort (CPUE) analysis and Simple Moving Average (SMA) analysis over five years from 2018- 2022. Analyzing was conducted to calculated monthly and annual catch composition of huhate that consists of skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis), yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares), and mackerel tuna (Euthynnus affinis). The huhate peak fishing season occurs during the east season. The highest huhate catch was in 2020 at 1,301 tons, and the lowest was in 2021 at 853 tons. |
