This study aimed to evaluate the growth rate and production of alfalfa at different levels of irradiation. This research was arranged in split-plot design with 80 samples divided into 4 treatments and 20 replications. The treatment consisted of P1 = 15.000 lux sunlight; P2 = 7500 lux sunlight; P3 = 5000 lux sunlight; P4 = 2500 sunlight. The data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and the different result were further tested with the Duncan test. The results showed that 15.000 lux sunlight was optimal in increasing arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) colonization, plant height, number of leaves, and plant biomass, while the treatment with 2500 – 7500 lux sunlight was still not optimal in increasing plant vegetative growth. The conclusion of this study is that the level of irradiation with different intensity levels (2500-15000 lux) has a significant effect on the growth and production characteristics of alfalfa plants. Light intensity of 15.000 lux is the best level for the growth and productivity of alfalfa plants. Light intensity of 2500 – 7500 lux inhibits the growth and productivity of alfalfa plants.
