UI design for the smart device controlling feature in smart home applications is crucial for ensuring effective integration with smart device technology. Smart home apps enable remote or automatic control of household devices via mobile apps, requiring a UI that is intuitive, efficient, and user-friendly. This thesis focuses on designing the UI for the smart device controlling feature using a design thinking approach, which includes five stages: empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. The study also incorporates performance measurement and retrospective thinkaloud to ensure design effectiveness and efficiency. The resulting high-fidelity prototype achieved a 95% success rate and an average task completion time of 15.18 seconds, reflecting adequate efficiency. Evaluation provided critical feedback on layout consistency, navigation alignment, and adjustments to new components.
