Adolescence is often described as a period of emotional turmoil. This makes teenagers very vulnerable to juvenile delinquency. One of the causes of juvenile delinquency is the emotional regulation ability of teenagers. This study aims to analyze the influence of adolescent characteristics, family characteristics, parental attachment, and peer interactions on emotional regulation in early adolescents living in dormitories and non-dormitories. This research was conducted quantitatively using a questionnaire. Data collection was carried out using survey methods. The research subjects numbered 137 junior high school students selected using purposive sampling. The difference test results showed that the average index of parental attachment, peer interaction, and emotion regulation of boarding adolescents was higher than that of non-boarding adolescents. The results of the correlation test show that among boarding school adolescents, parental attachment is negatively correlated with the conflict dimension, and the conflict dimension is negatively correlated with cognitive reappraisal. Among non-boarding school adolescents, parental attachment and peer interaction are positively correlated with cognitive reappraisal. Additionally, the influence test shows that significant effects were found only among adolescents who do not reside in boarding schools. The significant dimensions for emotional regulation in non-boarding adolescents are trust and alienation in parental attachment, as well as security in peer interactions.
