dc.description.abstract | The manufacturing industry holds a huge influence on Indonesian economy. The manufacturing industry is one of the largest labor-absorbing sectors and also the largest contributors to national exports. However, this contribution does not prevent the existence of gender wage gap in the manufacturing industry. This study aimed to analyze the gender wage gap in Indonesia's manufacturing industry and the factors that cause the gender wage gap. This study applies descriptive analysis method, Ordinary Least Square (OLS) regression method and Oaxaca-Blinder Decomposition. The results of the descriptive analysis show that male workers excel in almost all characteristics studied. The Oaxaca-Blinder Decomposition results shows that there is a gender wage gap of around 33,73 percent of the women’s average wage, 48,62 percent of which is influenced by differences in characteristics between genders, while the rest is influenced by discrimination factors. This study also shows the importance of human capital investment and job characteristics in reducing the gender wage gap in the manufacturing industry. | - |
