Abstract: Substrat dasar perairan tersusun atas suatu ekosistem dengan karakteristik dan interaksi yang beragam. Karakteristik substrat dasar dapat mempengaruhi struktur komunitas makrozoobentos. Keberadaan komunitas makrozoobentos di terumbu karang merupakan bagian dari beragam interaksi antarkomunitas di suatu ekosistem. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kondisi substrat dasar, mendeskripsikan struktur komunitas makrozoobentos serta menanalisis hubungan substrat dasar dengan struktur komunitas makrozoobentos di Perairan Pulau Gorom dan Grogos, Maluku. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada 30 September – 7 Oktober 2023 di Pulau Gorom dan Grogos, Maluku. Metode pengamatan terumbu karang menggunakan Point Intercept Transect (PIT) dan pengamatan makrozoobentos menggunakan Belt Transect. Kategori tutupan substrat dasar pada keempat stasiun didominasi oleh karang keras. Kondisi terumbu karang tergolong dalam kategori baik dan sedang. Kelas Ascidiacea merupakan kelas makrozoobentos yang mendominasi pada keempat stasiun. Nilai indeks keanekaragaman (H’), keseragaman (E) dan dominansi (C) makrozoobentos berturut-turut berkisar antara 1.71-4.22, 0.35-0.77 dan 0.09-0.46. Keberadaan makrozoobentos memiliki pola sebaran yang dipengaruhi tipe substrat yang dominan.
The bottom substrate is composed of an ecosystem with diverse characteristics and interactions. Characteristics of the bottom substrate can affect the structure of the macrozoobenthos community. The existence of macrozoobenthos communities in coral reefs is part of various interactions between communities in an ecosystem. This study aims to describe the condition of the bottom substrate, describe the structure of the macrozoobenthos community and analyze the relationship between the bottom substrate and the structure of the macrozoobenthos community in the Waters of Gorom and Grogos Island, Maluku. This research was conducted from September 30 to October 7, 2023 in Gorom and Grogos Island, Maluku. Coral reef observation method using Point Intercept Transect (PIT) and macrozoobenthos observation using Belt Transect. The basic substrate cover category at the four stations was dominated by hard corals. Coral reef conditions are classified as good and moderate. Ascidiacea class is a macrozoobenthos class that dominates at all four stations. Diversity index (H'), uniformity (E) and dominance (C) of macrozoobenthos ranged from 1.71-4.22, 0.35-0.77 and 0.09-0.46, respectively. The presence of macrozoobenthos has a distribution pattern influenced by the dominant substrate type.
