Cassava peel waste, which is generally overlooked and merely becomes organic waste from the food industry and households, has the potential to be utilized in a more valuable way. The utilization of cassava peel waste as a complementary material for dry chemical powder in lightweight fire extinguishers (APAR) is one of the efforts that can be made to reduce waste accumulation while also providing an environmentally friendly solution. This research evaluates the effectiveness of a composition of cassava peel powder and dry chemical powder through experiments using four variations of treatment: the first composition is 3 kg of cassava peel powder, the second variation is a 2:1 composition (2 kg of cassava peel powder and 1 kg of dry chemical powder), the third variation is a 1:1 composition (1.5 kg of cassava peel powder and 1.5 kg of dry chemical powder), and the fourth variation is 3 kg of dry chemical powder. Each composition is tested to assess the fire extinguishing time and the area successfully extinguished. The results show that the 2:1 combination is the most effective at extinguishing the fire in 15 seconds, while the other compositions demonstrate less optimal performance. This finding indicates that cassava peel powder could be a more environmentally friendly alternative for fire extinguishers. |
