dc.description.abstractSalah satu upaya peningkatan produktivitas bawang merah secara kultur teknis adalah dengan mulsa organik yang efektif, murah dan ramah lingkungan. Percobaan ini bertujuan memperoleh informasi pengaruh perlakuan jenis mulsa terhadap pertumbuhan dan produksi bawang merah varietas baru SS Sakato serta memperoleh jenis mulsa organik terbaik untuk menekan pertumbuhan gulma. Percobaan dilaksanakan di Kebun Percobaan Sukamantri IPB, Bogor, Jawa Barat pada bulan Februari hingga April 2022. Percobaan yang dilakukan adalah Rancangan Kelompok Lengkap Teracak (RKLT) dengan faktor tunggal (jenis mulsa) yaitu 8 jenis mulsa dengan 3 ulangan. Jenis mulsa yang diuji adalah tanpa mulsa tanpa penyiangan, tanpa mulsa dengan penyiangan, tanpa mulsa dengan herbisida bahan aktif pendimethalin, mulsa jerami padi, mulsa sekam padi, mulsa serbuk kayu, mulsa plastik hitam dan mulsa plastik perak. Hasil percobaan menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan jenis mulsa yang digunakan secara umum menekan pertumbuhan gulma serta meningkatkan hasil bawang merah. Penggunaan mulsa organik pada budidaya bawang merah SS Sakato berupa jerami padi, sekam padi, serbuk gergaji cenderung menekan pertumbuhan gulma dan meningkatkan pertumbuhan dan produksi bawang merah lebih baik dari penyiangan manual. Mulsa organik yang terbaik pada penelitian ini adalah mulsa sekam padi. Kata kunci: mulsa organik, mulsa sekam padi, pengendalian secara kultur teknis, pertanian ramah lingkungan.
dc.description.abstractOne effort to increase shallot productivity culturally is by using organic mulch which is effective, cheap and environmentally friendly. This experiment aims to obtain information on the effect of mulch treatment on the growth and production of the new SS Sakato variety of shallots and to obtain the best type of organic mulch to suppress weed growth. The experiment was carried out at the IPB Sukamantri Experimental Garden, Bogor, West Java from February to April 2022. The experiment carried out was a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with a single factor (types of mulch), namely 8 levels of mulch with 3 replications. The types of mulch tested were no mulch without weeding, no mulch with weeding, no mulch with the active ingredient herbicide pendimethalin, rice straw mulch, rice husk mulch, wood dust mulch, black plastic mulch and silver plastic mulch. The experimental results showed that the commonly used type of mulch treatment suppressed weed growth and increased shallot yields. The use of organic mulch in SS Sakato shallot cultivation in the form of rice straw, rice husks, sawdust tends to suppress weed growth and increase shallot growth and production better than manual weeding.
