Acne is a skin problem that can be treated using antibiotics, but excessive antibiotic administration can cause side effects in the form of bacterial resistance that is initially sensitive to become resistant. The use of antibacterial compounds from natural ingredients such as neem seed oil in cream formulations can be a substitute for antibiotics and a safe solution for the skin. This study aims to evaluate the antibacterial activity, viscosity, particle size and stability of physical properties of three cream formulas made from neem oil (F1: 1.5%; F2: 2%; F3: 2.5%) observed for 4 weeks at room temperature. The results showed homogeneity, color, and aroma of all cream formulas were stable. Particle size, pH, spreadability, and viscosity of the preparation met the standards of SNI 16-4399-1996, except the viscosity value at high temperature testing (45 °C). All antibacterial properties of cream formulas have strong inhibition against S. epidermidis and P. acnes bacteria, with inhibition increasing with the addition of neem oil concentration. Formula F3 was the best formula in inhibiting bacteria.
