Abstract: Sereh dapur banyak dikonsumsi sebagai obat alternatif dari bahan alami karena dipercaya dapat menyembuhkan beberapa penyakit metabolisme. Pada umumnya masyarakat mengonsumsinya saat mengetahui bahwa kadar gula darah atau kolesterolnya tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji efek infusa sereh dapur (Cymbopogon citratus) kadar 20% dan 80% pada profil darah merah tikus normal selama pemberian 2 minggu. Tiga puluh ekor tikus dibagi menjadi tiga kelompok: kelompok pertama sebagai kontrol, kelompok kedua diberikan 20% infusa sereh dapur, dan kelompok ketiga diberikan 80% infusa sereh dapur. Sebanyak 0,1 mL darah diambil dari ekor dan dianalisa dengan hematology analyzer merek Alovision HM560V. Profil darah merah pada tikus yang diberi infusa kadar 20% mendekati nilai profil darah merah pada tikus kontrol, sementara pemberian infusa kadar 80% menunjukkan jumlah sel darah merah (RBC), kadar hemoglobin (HGB) dan hematokrit (HCT) yang rendah dibandingkan kelompok tikus kontrol dan pemberian infusa 20%. Hasil ini menunjukkan potensi efek toksik pada kadar infusa sereh yang tinggi. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa sereh dapur dapat berpotensi sebagai obat herbal dengan kadar yang tepat, pada kadar infusa 20% masih dapat mempertahankan jumlah sel darah, tetapi tidak dianjurkan mengonsumsi pada kadar 80%.
Kitchen lemongrass is widely consumed as an alternative medicine from natural ingredients because it is believed to cure several metabolic diseases. In general, people consume it when they know that their blood sugar or cholesterol levels are high. This study aims to assess the effect of kitchen lemongrass (Cymbopogon citratus) infusa at 20% and 80% levels on the red blood profile of normal rats during 2 weeks of administration. Thirty rats were divided into three groups: the first group as control, the second group was given 20% kitchen lemongrass infusa, and the third group was given 80% kitchen lemongrass infusa. A total of 0.1 mL of blood was taken from the tail and analyzed with an Alovision HM560V hematology analyzer. The red blood profile in rats given 20% infusa was close to the red blood profile value in control rats, while the 80% infusa showed lower red blood cell (RBC) count, hemoglobin (HGB) and hematocrit (HCT) levels compared to the control and 20% infusa groups. These results indicate potential toxic effects at high levels of lemongrass infusa. This study concludes that kitchen lemongrass can have potential as an herbal medicine with the right levels, at 20% infusa levels can still maintain blood cell counts, but it is not recommended to consume at 80% levels.
