| Abstract: | DIMAS SAMIAJI.

Supervised by EMIL WAHDI Dried human fecal sludge is one of the challenges in domestic effluent treatment, particularly due to its iron (Fe) content which is potentially toxic to the environment and interferes with plant growth when it has high levels. The initial Fe content recorded from the Sludge Drying Bed (SDB) unit was 22.321,85 mg/kg. This study aims to reduce iron (Fe) levels in dried human fecal sludge by using the vermicomposting method combined with the addition of kepok banana peel (Musa acuminata) as an additional ingredient to bind iron (Fe) levels. This method involves the use of earthworms (Lumbricus rubellus) that have the ability to decompose organic matter quickly, absorb heavy metals through their body surface and digestive tract, and have a high population in Indonesia. The results showed that the treatment with T70K30 composition (70% fecal sludge and 30% kepok banana peel) gave the highest iron (Fe) content reduction of 10.806,67 mg/kg in accordance with SNI 7763:2018 on solid organic fertilizer. Therefore, this method can be an effective solution in reducing iron (Fe) content in human fecal sludge and producing environmentally friendly organic fertilizer.
