The number of surgeries increased from 140 million patients in 2017 to an additional 8 million patients in 2019 worldwide. It is estimated that 165 million surgical procedures are performed globally every year. The number of surgical procedures in Indonesia is also increasing, reaching 1.2 million patients in the 2019-2020 period. The condition affecting the increasing demand for surgical suture. Until 2023, imported medical device products in Indonesia reached 70%. PT XYZ is one of the medical device distributors, that collaborates with suppliers from the European region. Polyglycolic Acid, Polyglecaprone, and Polydioxanone are a selection of absorbable surgical suture materials that are widely used in general surgery, gastrointestinal tract, plastic surgery, gynecology, orthopedic, and skin closure. Polyglycolic Acid is one of the highest selling absorbable surgical suture among all surgical suture available at PT XYZ. The demand for PGA surgical suture is increasing along with the increase in recorded surgeries. The company faces some problems in procuring product inventory because it depends on only one supplier, which affects supply chain performance and creates various risks in its business processes. This research will focus on analyzing the supply chain performance and risk mitigation of PGA surgical suture products at PT XYZ. The methods used are Supply Chain Operation Reference (SCOR), House of Risk (HOR), and fishbone. The SCOR test result shows that the supply chain performance of PT XYZ on external attributes, all indicators are classified as superior, while for internal attributes are categorized as parity. Based on the HOR analysis and fishbone method, 3 priority sources of risk that must be mitigated are supplier errors, fluctuating demand, and limited storage warehouse. While the mitigation that must be done is to encourage suppliers to build factories in Indonesia, provide quarterly order forecasting, and conduct regular meetings for evaluation and strategy preparation. |
