Abstract: Muography merupakan metode pencitraan menggunakan partikel muon yang mampu mencitrakan struktur internal dari objek berdensitas tinggi. Pencitraan muography banyak diterapkan pada berbadai bidang, termasuk pada volcanology. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan membangun simulasi pencitraan gunung berapi menggunakan software Geant4 berbasis Monte Carlo untuk mengevaluasi kemampuan partikel muon untuk mencitrakan struktur intenal gunung berapi. Geometri gunung berapi dibangun dengan material standard rock yang memiliki densitas ?? = 2,00 g/cm3 serta memiliki saluran magma kosong. Serta dibangun dua lapis detektor sintilator yang berdensitas ?? = 1,03 g/cm3. Sedangkan beam partikel muon ditembakkan menuju detektor dengan energi 1-40 GeV. Hasil simulasi menunjukkan bahwa partikel muon dapat mencitrakan gunung berapi dandapat membedakan perbedaan densitas pada gunung berapi dan saluran magma.
Muography is an imaging method using muon particles that can image the internal structure of high-density objects. Muography imaging is widely applied in various fields, including volcanology. This study was conducted by building a volcano imaging simulation using Monte Carlo-based Geant4 software to evaluate the ability of muon particles to image the internal structure of the volcano. The volcano geometry is built with standard rock material that has a density ?? = 2,00 ??/????3 and has empty magma channels. Two layers of scintillator detectors with a density of ?? = 1,03 ??/????3 were built. Meanwhile, muon particle beams are fired towards the detector with energies of 1-40 GeV. Simulation results show thatmuon particles can image volcanoes and can distinguish density differences in volcanoes and magma channels.
