Abstract: PT XYZ merupakan perusahaan manufaktur yang memproduksi bahan bangunan dan sistem konstruksi modern. Salah satu produk unggulan yang banyak diminati oleh pelanggan yaitu produk hollow. Pada periode September-Oktober 2023 diketahui bahwa rata-rata jumlah defect produk hollow 2x4 ketebalan 0,23 MM mencapai 4,30% yang berarti melebih batas toleransi perusahaan yaitu sebesar 1%. Untuk itu dilakukan penelitian untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor penyebab defect dengan menggunakan metode seven tools dan metode 5W+1H untuk menentukan usulan perbaikan yang tepat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 4 faktor penyebab defect yaitu faktor man, material, machine, dan environment. Faktor utamanya yaitu man, kurangnya pemantauan dan pengendalian kualitas pada bahan baku mother coil. Usulan perbaikan untuk menurunkan defect hollow adalah meningkatkan pemantauan dan pengendalian kualitas bahan baku mother coil, menerapkan check sheet pemeriksaan hasil produk defect, mengadakan program training atau pelatihan untuk karyawan dan operator, melakukan pemeriksaan dan perbaikan, serta menerapkan gugus kendali mutu (GKM).
PT XYZ is a manufacturing company that produces building materials and modern construction systems. One of the superior products that are in great demand by customers is hollow products. In the September-October 2023 period, it is known that the average number of defects in hollow products 2x4 thickness of 0.23 MM reaches 4.30%, which means exceeding the company's tolerance limit of 1%. For this reason, research was conducted to determine the factors that cause defects using the seven tools method and the 5W + 1H method to determine the right improvement proposal. The results showed that there are 4 factors that cause defects, namely man, material, machine, and environment. The main factor is man, lack of monitoring and quality control on mother coil raw materials. Proposed improvements to reduce hollow defects are improving monitoring and quality control of mother coil raw materials, implementing check sheets checking defect product results, conducting training programs for employees and operators, conducting inspections and repairs, and implementing quality control circle (QCC).
