The use of melinjo as a food ingredient produces waste in the form of melinjo seed shells, which are not managed and cause negative impacts. Melinjo seed shells are similar to the structure of peanut shells, which contain cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin, so they have the potential to be processed into biochar. The quality of biochar is determined by several factors, one of which is the combustion temperature (pyrolysis). This research aims to analyze the characteristics of biochar from melinjo seed shell waste at different pyrolysis temperatures. Melinjo seed shell biochar is produced using a furnace with varying pyrolysis temperatures of 300, 350, 400, 450, 500, 550, 600, and 650 °C for 4 hours. The biochar samples were then analyzed for physical characteristics (surface morphology) and chemical (elements C, O, N, K, Ca, Mg, Si, and Cl). The best characteristics of melinjo seed shell biochar are at a pyrolysis temperature of 550 °C, which has a surface morphology that has not been destroyed, and is supported by high element content values.-
