Jengkol is a commonly preferred food ingredient in Indonesia. Jengkol production continues to increase resulting in an increase in the volume of jengkol peel waste. The negative impact of piles of agricultural waste such as jengkol peel can be minimized by utilizing jengkol peel into biochar raw materials, because jengkol peel contains hemicellulose, cellulose, and lignin. Biochar characteristics depend on several factors, one of which is pyrolysis temperature. This study was conducted to determine the effect of pyrolysis temperature variations on the characteristics of the jengkol peel waste biochar. Jengkol peel biochar was pyrolyzed with various temperature treatments, namely 300, 350, 400, 450, 500, 550, 600 and 650 oC. Analysis of physical characteristics and chemical characteristics was carried out on the pyrolyzed jengkol peel biochar with temperature variations. The results of the analysis of the characteristics of the jengkol peel biochar showed that the 600 oC pyrolysis temperature biochar had the best characteristics on surface morphology with a large number of pores and width, and high carbon content.
