Population and economic growth have driven an increase in land demand in Palu City. This causes the conversion of vegetated land to non-vegetated land and increasing temperatures. Urban forests are a type of green open space that can play a role in reducing urban temperatures. The aim of this research is to determine priorities and potential locations for urban forest development based on the distribution of air temperatures in Palu City. Landat 8 OLI/TIRS imagery was analyzed to determine air temperature, land cover and NDVI values. All data were processed in Arcmap software version 10.5. Priority and potential locations for urban forest development are determined through overlap analysis of the gathered data on air temperature, land cover, NDVI and Urban Land Use Plan of Palu City. Urban forest development priorities are divided into three priority classes, namely priority 1 covering an area of 6740.86 ha, priority 2 covering an area of 2743.78 ha and priority 3 covering an area of 20.695.04 ha. Priority 1 is the most recommended areas to be developed into urban forests as 98.31% of the area has a temperature of ?27.1 ?.
