Abstract: Thermometer digital infrared (TDI) merupakan alat pengukur suhu permukaan tubuh bersifat non-invasif, dapat dimanfaatkan pada satwa liar. Penelitian bertujuan mengetahui keakuratan penggunaan TDI sebagai alat monitoring suhu tubuh yang non-invasif pada rusa timor, serta melihat pengaruh jenis kelamin terhadap pola termografi suhu permukaan tubuh. Penelitian menggunakan sepuluh ekor rusa timor dewasa kelamin (≥ 2 tahun) dengan jenis kelamin jantan sebanyak lima ekor dan betina (tidak dalam kondisi bunting atau estrus) sebanyak lima ekor. Suhu rektal dan suhu permukaan serta profil mikroklimat diukur sebanyak dua kali, yakni pada pagi (09.00 WIB) dan siang hari (13.00 WIB). Pengukuran suhu permukaan dilakukan pada sepuluh regio tubuh, yakni regio ocularis, nostrum, buccalis, costalis, axillaris, flank, perianal, digitalis, testis, dan vulva. Hasil menunjukkan dari sepuluh regio, hanya regio perianal yang tidak menunjukkan perbedaan nyata dengan suhu rektal. Perbandingan suhu permukaan antar waktu menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan pada delapan regio (rektal, ocularis, buccalis, costalis, flank, testis, axillaris, dan digitalis) pada rusa jantan dan satu regio (digitalis) pada rusa betina. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa infrared thermography masih belum akurat dalam mengukur suhu tubuh secara non-invasif pada rusa timor, dan rusa betina memiliki ketahanan panas yang lebih baik dibandingkan rusa jantan
The infrared digital thermometer (IDT) is a non-invasive device used for measuring body surface temperature, potentially applicable to wildlife. This study aims to evaluate the accuracy of IDT as a non-invasive tool for monitoring body temperature in Timor deer and to examine the effect of sex on body surface thermography patterns. The research involved ten adult Timor deer (≥ 2 years), comprising five males and five females (not pregnant or in estrus). Rectal and surface temperatures, as well as microclimate profiles, were measured twice daily, in the morning (09:00 WIB) and afternoon (13:00 WIB). Surface temperature measurements were taken from ten body regions: ocular, nostril, buccal, costal, axillary, flank, perianal, digital, testicular, and vulvar regions. The results indicated that among the ten regions, only the perianal region did not show a significant difference from the rectal temperature. Surface temperature comparisons over time revealed significant differences in eight regions (rectal, ocular, buccal, costal, flank, testicular, axillary, and digital) in male deer and one region (digital) in female deer. It can be concluded that infrared thermography is still not accurate for non-invasive body temperature measurement in Timor deer, and female deer exhibit better heat tolerance compared to male deer
