Abstract: Pakan merupakan salah satu faktor penting yang menunjang produktivitas puyuh. Salah satu sumber protein pakan yang biasanya digunakan dalam pakan puyuh adalah Meat Bone Meal (MBM). MBM merupakan produk impor sehingga menyebabkan harganya mahal. Alternatif untuk menggantikan MBM salah satunya dengan memanfaatkan bahan pakan lokal yaitu maggot black soldier fly. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengkaji karakteristik karkas dan non karkas puyuh yang diberi tepung maggot black soldier fly dalam pakan. Peubah yang diamati meliputi bobot potong, bobot dan persentase karkas, bobot dan persentase non karkas, bobot dan persentase potongan komersial karkas serta bobot dan persentase karkas edible dan non edible. Puyuh yang digunakan yaitu puyuh betina periode bertelur umur 44-50 minggu. Prosedur penelitian terdiri dari pemeliharaan dan pembuatan tepung maggot black soldier fly, pembuatan pakan, persiapan kandang dan pemeliharaan, penyembelihan, serta parting dan deboning. Perlakuan yang diberikan yaitu R0 (pakan mengandung sumber protein utama MBM) dan R1 (pakan mengandung sumber protein utama maggot black soldier fly. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan uji-t dua sampel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa puyuh yang diberikan pakan mengandung sumber protein utama tepung maggot black soldier fly menghasilkan karakteristik karkas dan non karkas yang tidak berbeda dengan puyuh yang diberikan pakan mengandung sumber protein utama MBM.
Feed is one of the important factors that support quail productivity. One of the sources of feed protein that is usually used in quail feed is Meat Bone Meal (MBM). MBM is an imported product, causing it to be expensive. One of the alternatives to replace MBM is by utilizing local feed ingredients, namely black soldier fly maggots. This study aims to examine the characteristics of quail carcasses and non-quail carcasses fed with black soldier fly maggot flour in feed. The observed variables include cut weight, carcass weight and percentage, noncarcass weight and percentage, carcass commercial cut weight and percentage and edible and non-edible carcass weight and percentage. The quail used is a female quail with an egg-laying period of 44-50 weeks of age. The research procedure consists of maintenance and manufacturing of black soldier fly maggot flour, feed making, cage preparation and maintenance, slaughter, as well as parting and deboning. The treatment given was R0 (feed containing the main source of protein MBM) and R1 (feed containing the main source of black soldier fly maggot protein). The data obtained were analyzed using a two-sample t-test. The results of the study showed that quails fed containing the main source of protein black soldier fly maggot flour produced carcass and non-carcass characteristics that were no different from quails fed containing the main source of MBM protein.
