Duncanopsammia axifuga is a coral that belongs to the Dendrophyllidae family and categorized as a coral species that rarely can be found. D. axifuga commonly can be found at depths of more than 20 meters, and this species usually attaches to hard substrates with soft substrates predominance. Recent studies have recorded that D. axifuga also can be found at 5 meters depth in the coastal waters of Seget District, Sorong Regency, West Papua Province. Further studies need to be carried out regarding the habitat characteristics of D. axifuga at this location to complete D. axifuga ecological information that categorized as near-threatened biota category. Observations of D. axifuga habitat carried out using underwater photo transect method and micro habitat studies were carried 26 photos that contain D. axifuga based on the purposive sampling method . Measurements of D. axifuga colonies were conducted using ImageJ software followed by correspondence analysis to determine the association between D. axifuga and the benthic community and also other living coral genera associated with D. axifuga. This research result shows that D. axifuga coral in the coastal waters of Seget District inhabits sandy bottom substrate that associated dead coral with algae, macroalgae, sponges, and live coral that is dominated by coral massive coral.
