Abstract: Tanaman hias memiliki karakter yang bervariasi. Keragamannya dapat ditingkatkan dengan induksi mutasi. Salah satu perlakuan mutasi induksi adalahdengan pembentukan tanaman poliploid sehingga dapat menghasilkan satuindividu yang memiliki set kromosom lebih dari dua pasang pada sel somatiknya. Penelitian ini menggunakan mutagen kolcisin dan orizalin dengan masing-masing tiga konsentrasi. Bahan tanam yang digunakan yaitu stek batang dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) satu faktor. Percobaan menggunakan tiga kali ulangan pada tujuh perlakuan yaitu kontrol, kolcisin 0,05%, 0,10%, 0,15%, serta orizalin 0,005%, 0,010%, dan 0,015%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan kolcisin dan orizalin berpengaruh nyata terhadap karakter morfologi tanaman bunga lipstik diantaranya panjang tunas total, panjang ruas, pertambahan panjang daun, lebar daun, dan tebal daun. Karakter anatomi stomata yang dilakukan tidak menunjukkan perbedaan yang nyata. Tanaman dengan perlakuan mutagen memiliki frekuensi stomata yang lebih banyak daripada kontrol.
Ornamental plants have varied characters. Diversity can be increased by induction of mutations. One treatment for induced mutations is to form polyploid plants so that they can produce one individual that has more than two pairs of chromosome sets in its somatic cells. This research used the mutagens colchicine and oryzalin at three concentrations each. The planting material used was stemcuttings with a one-factor Completely Randomized Design (CRD). The experiment used three replications in seven treatments, namely control, colchicine 0,05%, 0,10%, 0,15%, and oryzalin 0,005%, 0,010%, and 0,015%. The results of the research showed that colchicine and orizalyn treatments had a significant effect on the morphological characters of lipstick flower plants, including total shoot length, internode length, increase in leaf length, leaf width and leaf thickness. The anatomical characteristics of the stomata did not show any real differences. Mutagen-treated plants had a higher frequency of stomata than controls.
