Abstract: Indonesia has many types of plant, especially leaf, which is believed to stimulate the breast milk production (laktagogum). Among them are katuk (Souropus androgynus), papaya and Torbangun (Coleus amboinicus Lour). Torbangun is originating from North Sumatera. Since years ago, Batak people believed that Torbangun could stimulate the breast milk production or even could used to recover for mother’s health status after give a birth. Torbangun is consumed as soup. The soup is produced from leaf, spices, and coconut milk. As modern life, the soup is now very prospective to be marketed. However, as a commercial product, the soup need to be improved in quality and practicability. The content of coconut milk in this in the leaf soup makes the product become susceptible against rancidity and microbiological damage. It is therefore, the study should be conducted corcerning on packaging and storage of Torbangun leaf soup. The main objective of this study is to improve the quality and to pro long shelf life of the Torbangun leaf soup. To achieve the objective mention, the study is proposed to apply many package types and storage conditions. The specific objective of the study are (i) to get the best package type, (ii) to recognize the most suitable storage condition, (iii) to obtain the quality reduction of Torbangun leaf soup during storage period, and (iv) to obtain the shelflife from this product.
