This study aimed to evaluate maggots' performance that fed with different protein-carbohydrate ratios. This study used two treatments and five replications, substrate with ratio of carbohydrate and protein 88%:12% (P1) and 74%:26% (P2), 2,25 kilogram substrates was given to the maggot during cultivation. The performance parameters measured were consumption of dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP), ether exctract (EE), crude fiber and amino acids, maggot weight, percentage of prepupae, substrate reduction, and feed conversion rasio (FCR). Data were analyzed using a T-Test of variance (Independent Sample T-Test). The performance of BSF larvae on P2 treatment were significantly higher (P<0.05) compared to the P1 treatment from consumption of DM and CP, maggot weight, percentage of prepupae, substrate reduction, and FCR. The highest consumption of the essential amino acids were lysine, isoleucine, and arginine, while the highest consumption of the non-essential amino acids were glutamic acid, aspartic acid, and alanine. In conclusion, maggot fed with high protein ratio (74%:26%) produced the best and most efficient performance. |
