Abstract: Peran orang tua dibutuhkan untuk membantu remaja memiliki minat melanjutkan ke jenjang pendidikan tinggi serta meningkatkan kebahagiaan remaja. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisis hubungan peran gender, minat anak melanjutkan ke jenjang pendidikan tinggi, dan kebahagiaan remaja. Penelitian ini melibatkan remaja 30 remaja laki-laki dan 30 perempuan dengan usia 12-15 tahun. Lokasi penelitian di Kota Jayapura, Provinsi Papua dengan melibatkan siswa/i jenjang SMP. Desain metode penelitian ini menggunakan cross sectional dengan teknik pengumpulan data simple random sampling. Hasil uji hubungan menunjukkan remaja perempuan cenderung memiliki korelasi dengan peran gender dan minat melanjutkan ke jenjang pendidikan tinggi yang tinggi dibandingkan remaja laki-laki. Semakin tinggi peran gender dan minat anak melanjutkan ke jenjang pendidikan tinggi maka kebahagiaan remaja semakin tinggi dan begitu pun sebaliknya. Hasil uji pengaruh menunjukkan anak remaja laki-laki memiliki kebahagiaan yang tinggi dibandingkan remaja perempuan. Peran gender orang tua optimal dan minat anak melanjutkan ke jenjang pendidikan yang semakin tinggi akan berpengaruh dalam meningkatkan kebahagiaan remaja.
Parental gender roles are needed to help adolescents have an interest in continuing to higher education and increase adolescent happiness. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relations of gender roles, children's interest in continuing to higher education, and adolescent happiness. This study involved 30 adolescent boys and 30 girls aged 12-15 years old. The research location was in Jayapura City, Papua Province involving junior high school students. The design of this research uses cross sectional with simple random sampling data collection techniques. The correlation test showed that females tend to have a correlation with parental gender roles and high interest in continuing to higher education compared to male. Gender roles and high interest in continuing to higher education will increase adolescent happiness and vice versa. The regression test show that adolescent boys have high happiness compared to adolescent girls. Parental gender role and children's interest in continuing to higher education have a significant positive effect on adolescent happiness. Optimal parental gender roles and children's interest in continuing to higher education levels will have an effect in increasing adolescent happiness.
